I love how people insulted each other 100+ years ago. Maybe people just had a better command of language back then. Have you seen the “10 Best Comebacks of All Time“?
My favorite insult is by A E Housman, an Oxford-educated classicist and poet in Victorian Britain. Regarding an academic rival, Housman wrote:
Nature, not content with denying to Mr —— the faculty of thought, has endowed him with the faculty of writing.
As a marketer, I wish my copywriting skills were as good as some of those quotes.
