Helping a new client in Raleigh-Durham: daily-deal aggregator Redeemio.com

by Karl Sakas on August 18, 2010

Redeemio.com logoI’m working with a new marketing client who’s doing something pretty cool. You’ve probably heard of group-buying sites like Groupon, Living Social, and Twongo, which email you a daily deal for 40-90% off products and services at a local business. You might even be getting their emails every morning.

Redeemio.com takes that a step further by combining all the local promos into a single email. By aggregating the specials, they become a one-stop shopping destination for saving money. Once they launch their own deals, people can get deeper discounts with a built-in rewards program. You can also follow @redeemioRDU on Twitter.

I wish I’d thought of this myself. Actually, I did — after signing up for Groupon a couple months ago, I was thinking, “Customers don’t care how they hear about the deal. They just want the deal.”

The startup is headed by an unlikely trio — graduates of Duke, UNC, and NC State (hey, I’m not taking sides during March Madness!). Redeemio is already sharing deals in over 60 cities.

During my search for a new full-time job, I’m consulting part-time in their downtown Raleigh office in the BB&T building, to help Redeemio with marketing. As a train enthusiast, I’m pleased that my new temporary office comes with a 24th floor view of the Raleigh train station (right).

I can also see the new Raleigh Amphitheater, the back of the convention center’s Cree Shimmer Wall (did you know: the shimmer wall is suspended in mid-air — there’s nothing behind the LEDs?), the smoker chimney at The Pit, and the Dorton Arena and fairgrounds in the distance.

Do you currently subscribe to one or more daily-deal sites? What’s missing?
