I started by helping one of the hard-of-hearing residents, by repeating the numbers (B-11, N-53, etc.) so he could put chips on his Bingo card.
He didn’t win the first round, so I wiped all the chips off his card so he’d be ready for the next one. He almost had a heart attack. Turns out, by their house rules, they kept the markers in place until everyone in the room got Bingo. Oops.
I’ve done a few things to improve my soft skills in the past 15 years. When you go into a new situation, what’s your advice for figuring out the unwritten rules?
